The virologist Hendrik Streeck has a new task: Together with Katja Burkard, he will be leading a new Corona podcast from March 13th.
So now Professor Hendrik Streeck (43, "Hotspot: Living with the new coronavirus") is also among the podcasters. From March 13th, the head of the Institute for Virology and HIV Research at the University of Bonn will join the RTL presenter Katja Burkard (55, "Menopause? Don't panic!") In the joint podcast "Hotspot – the pandemic talk." with Katja Burkard and Hendrik Streeck "at Audio Now and everywhere else where there are podcasts.
While Streeck wants to bring the world of science closer, Burkard is supposed to slip into the role of the listener and ask questions that interest all of Germany. The current situation should be explained and classified in a way that is understandable for everyone. "I've been interested in medical and health topics for many years – that's kind of a hobby of mine," says Burkard, explaining her commitment. That's why she's looking forward to her new job.
Numerous virologist podcasts
Streeck adds: "Every day new information about coronaviruses, vaccinations and medication comes out and the list of questions is getting longer, not shorter." A pandemic can only be tackled together if every citizen participates. The first episode is about the person Hendrick Streeck as well as vaccinations and tests.
The idea of the virologist podcast is of course not entirely new. The head of virology at the Charité in Berlin, Professor Christian Drosten (48), has been regularly informing the population about new developments in the NDR podcast "Coronavirus Update" since February 2020. Professor Alexander Kekulé (62), Head of Medical Microbiology and Virology at the University of Halle-Wittenberg, has a similar show on MDR called "Kekulés Corona Compass".
