The facts took place in South Carolina on May 19, in the small town of St Helena Island. In the middle of the night, Jamie Bradley Brun’s eldest daughter, 16, was suddenly awakened at around 1.30am when she heard the cries of her 8-year-old sister coming from the bathroom. Rushing there, the teenager could then see that his mother was trying to drown his sister, although no additional details have been released by the Beaufort County sheriff in charge of the investigation as specified by CBS. After successfully pushing his mother and run away with his sister to a nearby house where members of her family live, the teenager was able to warn the emergency services and the police.
When they arrived on the spot a few minutes later, the police discovered Jamie Bradley Brun, 37, as well as his 6-year-old youngest daughter whom the emergency services tried to resuscitate, without success. The baby girl was pronounced dead when she arrived at the hospital. During their intervention, the police had to deal with a recalcitrant suspect who attempted to seize the weapon of one of the police officers. She was then subdued with a Taser and then handcuffed. During a press conference, the sheriff refused to explain the reasons behind the gesture of the mother of the family. “I am not a mental health expert.
