In Australia, a motorcycle thief on a tractor has given himself a breakneck chase with the police.
Queensland police released video footage of a break-in in the city of Ipswich and the subsequent pursuit of the perpetrator on Saturday. The tractor driver lost the two stolen motorcycles, broke through metal barriers and drove along train tracks.
A surveillance camera shot shows how a man with the front loader of a heavy agricultural machine rams into the window of a shop, attaches two exhibited motorcycles to the front loader and drives them away.
Police recordings then show the tractor driver defying the officers’ instructions and escaping through suburban streets.
Tried to run away in the tall grass
On the run, the tractor first loses the captured motorcycles and then the front loader. The agricultural vehicle sped on anyway, breaks through a gate to a railway line and continues along the tracks.
According to police, the chase ended when the tractor hit a tree. According to the police, the burglar fled on foot, but was tracked down in the tall grass by a stream and arrested. The 41-year-old now has to answer for dangerous driving and escape from the police, among other things. No one was injured in the incident. (AFP)
