Here is how to change your password (this is required)

Following the hacking of the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) website, the organization is now calling on all of its users to change their password. A mandatory measure to continue accessing online services and intended to strengthen the IT security of the platform.

Online scams and scams are rife in our increasingly connected society. In this context, hackers do not hesitate to target public institutions with the aim of getting their hands on users’ personal information – surname, first name, date of birth, email address, telephone number, postal address, etc. – in order to exploit them for malicious purposes.

Indeed, if this data does not seem compromising at first glance, it is valuable for hackers who can then use it to try to defraud people by posing as a banking advisor, for example, as was the case with victims of spoofing. It was undoubtedly to get their hands on the personal data of recipients of family allowances that hackers carried out an attack, on February 13, 2024, on the website of the CIF. Enough to push the organization to now exercise more caution by requesting the vigilance of its users in particular.

CAF: a new mandatory password from March 8, 2024

Since February 22, 2024, the CIF therefore invites all of its beneficiaries to change their password to access the platform. From March 8, 2024, this measure is mandatory to continue accessing the online services of the Family Allowance Fund and aims to increase the cyber security of the platform, as specified in a press release from the National Family Allowance Fund (CNAF).

Beneficiaries can be supported throughout the process by tutorials to change the password of their personal account, which must therefore contain at least 10 characters. Stating that the site of the CIF does not present any flaws and that its hack was made possible only by the low level of security of users’ passwords, the CIF calls for general vigilance. “By implementing preventive measures, users strengthen the security of their account and reduce the risk of fraud”specifies the organization on its site.
