Here is the next Gmail web interface

Google will update the Gmail interface for Workspace users. On the menu: a few more curves, but above all, the further integration of other services.

Here is the next Gmail web interface

Google announced on its blog the future interface of Gmail. The latter changes the way Google Chat, Meet and Spaces are integrated, it will be available in beta test from February and then it will be deployed globally from April. You’ll have to get used to it, because it will be the only option by the end of the second quarter of 2022.

Dedicated and better integrated views

As you can see from the two screenshots, Google’s other email tools, especially those in the Workspace suite, are no longer the little windows floating next to your emails. They now have their own view in Gmail which is accessible with large buttons on the left side.

This is an integrated view, which will be available to Workspace customers. Starting February 8, Google says you can start testing out this new layout for yourself. By April, anyone who hasn’t registered first will be switched to the new layout. We don’t worry, it will be possible for a while to go back. But, this option will disappear by the end of the second quarter.

Services will also be more integrated. If you do a search on Gmail, for example, it will also show messages from chats. A throwback, in a way, which makes us think of what Hangouts allowed to do.

As a reminder, the interface of the Gmail app had been modified, in 2021, to integrate the Material You language elements.
