Here’s how to claim this aid of 1,492 euros that 50% of retirees forget to ask for

To help the poorest retirees cope with the rising cost of living, the government has put in place several social benefits, including the solidarity allowance for the elderly or ASPA. Aid amounting to 1,492 euros that many retirees forget to ask for. Here are the steps to follow to benefit from it.

While inflation has taken hold in France for several consecutive months, the government is putting in place solutions to help the most deprived households cope with the rising cost of living. The situation of seniors seems to concern the State, while Bruno Lemaire announced in the columns of Le Parisien an increase in the amount of all basic pensions of 5.2% on January 1, 2024. This follows an increase in 100 euros of retirement pensions which concern 125,000 people and confirmed on Monday October 9, 2023 by the government.

To help the most deprived retirees, the State is putting in place other financial aid schemes for our seniors. This is particularly the case for the solidarity allowance for the elderly or ASPA, a significant financial boost intended for retirees who have modest incomes.. Indeed, this state aid, the amount of which can reach up to 1,492 euros allows the most deprived to cope with the rising cost of energy but also of food consumer goods.

ASPA: 65 years minimum

However, almost 50% of retirees eligible forASPA forget to request it, as reported by the site Full life. Since 2007, this system has replaced the old age minimum in order to help seniors who receive a pension below the established ceiling. Like most financial aid, this is not distributed automatically to those administered but must first be requested in order to be allocated to people who meet age and resource criteria. How to request it? You should first contact the pension fund to which a senior is attached, the CNAV for retirees from the private sector or even the MSA for former farmers who have a specific regime.

The pension fund then provides an application form to the beneficiary in order to justify the allocation criteria. First of all, the age which must be at least 65 years old. Then, the place of residence which must be established at least nine months on French soil in the year. Finally, the level of income which must not exceed 961 euros for a single person and 1492 for a couple.

The ASPA is a financial boost aimed at offering seniors the minimum subsistence level, represented by these two thresholds. Thus, a single retiree who receives a retirement pension of 900 euros can be allocated an allowance of 61 euros in order to reach this level of resources. To benefit from an allowance of 1,492 euros, a retired couple meeting the prior criteria must therefore have no source of income.
