Here’s why women who are going to give birth should put pacifiers in their maternity bag according to a midwife

A midwife shares an astonishing tip and advises slipping a very specific food into your maternity bag: lollipops! Here’s why.

We love following the stars’ pink diary. Some reveal the original names of their newborn (like Jazz Correia), others the joys of such happiness (like this emblematic couple of Love is in the meadow). But sometimes, they share their difficulties, whether during pregnancy, childbirth or after birth. And a midwife also uses social networks to provide advice to future parents.

Élise Destannes, with the Instagram account @la.sage.femme followed by more than 120,000 followers, this week has the subject of the cervix. And an amazing tip can help pregnant women in this regard: eating lollipops ! In a fun musical video, she explains why you should slip these sweets into your maternity bag. It begins with a question: “You know the saying ‘soft mouth = soft neck’?”.

Why you should eat lollipops

Then the midwife continues: “If you can relax your jaw, your face and therefore your mouth, it helps the dilation of the cervix, therefore helping labor progress.”. She then explains: “Késako ????!!!! Well yes, it’s logical actually… Sucking your pacifier forces you to unclench your jaws, relax your face and therefore let go”. Élise Destannes is sure of herself: “I swear it works”.
She states: “To welcome contractions without tensing up, don’t struggle! It’s not pain, it’s power!!!”. The caregiver also recalls: “The advantage of the lollipop is that it is sweet! So it brings sugar to your uterus. The uterus is a muscle = it needs sugar to contract”. It’s up to you to choose your food: “Hence the importance of having a sweet drink in your birthing room or lollipops for example. It is not possible to contract well if you are completely fasting”. Good to know !
