Henry Cavill was already Superman and is said to be the favorite for the James Bond role.

When looking at Henry Cavill’s future and past projects, the question arises: How does the actor actually manage all of this?
Hollywood star Henry Cavill (39) has been appearing in the big franchises for years. The mime, who was born on the Channel Island of Jersey, has already embodied the comic hero Superman and the monster hunter Geralt von Riva in the Netflix series “The Witcher”. In between, Cavill played the antagonist of Tom Cruise (60) in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” and appeared alongside “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown (18) in the mystery film “Enola Holmes” as the famous master detective Sherlock Holmes ( Part 2 will be available on Netflix on November 4th).
At least as exciting as the look into the past is the busy Cavill but also into the future: In the star-studded agent thriller “Argylle” he will be alongside Samuel L. Jackson (73), singer Dua Lipa (27) and “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston (66) to play the leading role. In addition, Cavill will probably soon embody the immortal Highlander – and possibly also super spy James Bond. The question arises as to how the Briton, who at times seems carved out of stone, manages to cope with this enormous workload.
“The Witcher” will keep Henry Cavill busy for a while
According to showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich (44), a total of seven seasons are planned for the popular fantasy series “The Witcher”. According to consistent media reports, Henry Cavill came into play as a big fan of the “The Witcher” video games – and has no intention of leaving the Netflix show prematurely. Then came Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, which were less well received by fans and cinema audiences alike. Cavill’s portrayal of the alien hero was consistently well received by fans. The well-trained Brit – who incidentally was the first non-American to play Superman – was and is considered the ideal cast for the role.
But his character suffered from subpar scripts, odd concepts like the superhero clash with the dark knight Batman (Ben Affleck, 50), or behind-the-scenes squabbles at the producing studio Warner Bros. Most recently, this – under new leadership – issued a strategic realignment for the DC cinema universe. Whether Henry Cavill’s Superman still fits in here is not certain at the moment.
The star herself, however, “would absolutely love the chance” to become a superhero with the ‘S’ on his chest once again, he told The Hollywood Reporter. “The cape is still in the closet,” says Cavill, who also named his dog “Kal” – after “Kal-El”, Superman’s Kryptonian name.
The apparently never-ending speculation about the legendary agent 007 is of a completely different dimension. After Daniel Craig’s (54) farewell performance in “No Time to Die” from last year, the role is vacant. Producer Barbara Broccoli (62) has announced a realignment of the series – and Henry Cavill has repeatedly expressed his interest in becoming Bond. “[…] yes, I would like to play Bond, that would be very, very exciting”, he revealed, for example, to the “Sunday Times” in December last year.
Cavill is currently also the favorite for the role with bookmakers on the island – followed by Idris Elba (49), who has already cancelled, and “Bridgerton” star Rege-Jean Page (34). Director Christopher McQuarrie (53), who staged Cavill in the sixth “Mission Impossible” part, also agrees. “He would make an excellent Bond”, according to the Oscar winner.
Ultimately, however, the new Bond actor will have to fit into the already mentioned new concept of the long-lived agent series. Henry Cavill himself said so: “At the moment everything is still in the balance. We will see what happens”.
“Highlander” and “Argylle”: Henry Cavilll’s future projects
