“Honey, where are you?” The wife of an accident driver who had fled from the scene of the accident in Traun led the police to the person they were looking for. As had already been suspected, he was dead drunk.
Around midnight there was a crash on Leondinger Strasse in Traun. A car had rammed a parked car and the polluter’s car had tipped to the side. The driver had apparently sought his salvation by fleeing and got out through the sunroof. The police found out about the license plate number of the car’s owner and she said that her husband was driving it. She called him on his cell phone and asked where he was. “At the gas station,” he replied – and said not a word about the crash. The police came to the gas station and did an alcohol test: 1.6 per mille. The officers immediately confiscated the car key and driver’s license. Now there’s a hefty penalty. How the wife reacted at home is not known.
