A 17-year-old minor was violently assaulted on September 30 in Montgeron. An investigation is underway after the broadcast of the video of the assault.

A shocking video. This Sunday, October 10, Internet users were shocked to discover a video of a homophobic attack shared on the account of an LGBT association. In this 40-second clip, we see a young man being beaten up by several assailants. The scene takes place in Montgeron, in Essonne.

According to the information from BFMTV, a resident allegedly called the police after being alerted by the sounds of a fight. Once there, the police cannot find anyone and the supposed victim does not file a complaint. It is thanks to a video shared on social networks that the police can move forward on this case. Following numerous reports, the Pharos platform, created in 2009 by the Government which is responsible for reporting illegal online content and behavior, transmits the video to the Montgeron police station. The link is made between the telephone report and the video extract. The police finally manage to identify the victim and summon her for a hearing.

An investigation is open

Heard by the police, the young man explains that he suffered an outburst of violence committed by a group of individuals who called him “Queer” while beating him up. Aged 17, the minor was in a home in the town of Crosnes and his mother lives in Grigny. This Monday, October 11, the public prosecutor announces the opening of an investigation for “Violence in meetings, on account of sexual orientation and by people concealing their faces”.
