The official release on PS5 and PS4 of Horizon Forbidden West is just around the corner. It appears, however, that Sony failed to keep the cover on its game until the end. Indeed, the new title of Guerrilla Games can now be added to the long list of games that have suffered a significant leak.
A non-final version of Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 has leaked online. The British site VGC claims to have been able to verify the veracity of the information. According to him, this leak contains the entire base game. It is not, however, the same game that consumers will be able to pick up on February 18. Indeed, some assets are missing from this version.
The plot of Horizon Forbidden West soon exposed?
This leak was discovered through the appearance of screenshots taken from this PS4 version on social networks. The authenticity of this Horizon Forbidden West leak was a priori confirmed a few hours later when these images were deleted by Twitter for copyright reasons.
Also according to VGC, this complete but not final PS4 version of Horizon Forbidden West is not circulating on hacking sites at the moment. It is therefore not yet clear how it ended up in the hands of some.
An air of deja vu for Sony
As mentioned above, Horizon Forbidden West will be released on February 18 on PS5 and PS4. This leak is likely to reveal many spoilers of the plot on social networks. Fans of the Guerrilla Games series should therefore be careful between now and the game’s official release.
As of this writing, Sony Interactive Entertainment has not commented on the situation. In any case, this is not the first time that the Japanese giant has found itself in such a situation. Many spoilers of The Last of Us Part II had indeed circulated before the release of the game following a similar leak.
