Of course, when we love a person with all our hearts, we always love the person with all their strengths and weaknesses. After all, our flaws and mistakes distinguish us as much as our talents and abilities – they make us unique and unmistakable. Also, others would feel terrible in our presence if we were perfect – and we would feel terrible in theirs if they were!
It is exciting that we usually perceive ourselves very differently than our fellow human beings do: We tend to be very aware of our weaknesses, but talk about them as little as possible out of self-protection. Missed? Well, when it comes down to it, I always manage to do everything! Vain? That's why I'm always well-styled! Unreliable? Fun and joy are more important to me! While others can be a little annoyed about such things from time to time, we should come to terms with our inadequacies if possible (or get rid of them) – after all, we have to live with them all the time.
But: Just like our weaknesses, we often relativize our strengths and positive qualities. Sensitive? Well, I'll try, but I don't know if I'll really succeed. Reliable? You have to be when others are counting on you. Honest? Great, but I don't know how to pack it nicely. We should be unreservedly proud of our strengths and see them best as others perceive them – because then we can develop them and use them as well as possible.
