You can finally watch the fantasy series “House of the Dragon” on free TV today. We’ll tell you when and where exactly the first season of the “Game of Thrones” prequel will be released.

“Game of Thrones” is still one of the most famous series in the world and received a fitting successor with “House of the Dragon” in the summer of 2022. At the time, viewers in Germany could only watch the popular fantasy series via the streaming service Wow. But finally there is now a free TV broadcast!
Be on private channel ProSieben from January 8, 2024, every Monday Two episodes of “House of the Dragon” aired at prime time. The first episodes are available a week earlier on the Joyn streaming service. Here we have the exact overview for you:
- January 8, 2024, from 8:15 p.m.: Episode 1 “The Heirs of the Dragon” + Episode 2 “The Prince Rebel”
- January 15, 2024, from 8:15 p.m.: Episode 3 “The Second of His Name” + Episode 4 “The King of the Straits”
- January 22, 2024, from 8:15 p.m.: Episode 5 “We light the way” + Episode 6 “The Princess and the Queen”
- January 29, 2024, from 8:15 p.m.: Episode 7 “Driftmark” + Episode 8 “The Lord of the Tides”
In the captivating spin-off to GoT, viewers learn more about the prehistory of Westeros, which takes place approximately 200 years before Daenerys Targaryen and the reign of Robert Baratheon. The focus is on the then powerful House Targaryen and their disputed succession to the Iron Throne.
King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) must choose between his younger brother Prince Daemon (Matt Smith, “Doctor Who,” “The Crown”), his firstborn daughter, Princess Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock and Emma D’Arcy) and his son Aegon ( Ty Tennant and Tom Glynn-Carney) decide. This leads to a bitter war within the family.
Anyone who has already seen the first season can look forward to more soon. The second season of “House of the Dragon” will follow in summer 2024, which will initially be broadcast on the streaming service Wow.
