Once upon a time, Daemon Targaryen did and said anything he wanted. However, the fan favorite from “House of the Dragon” is now almost taciturn and therefore much more powerful.

Daemon Targaryen plays a large and important role in “House of the Dragon”, after all, he is the brother of the (recently deceased) King Viserys and the husband of his daughter Rhaenyra, the rightful heir to the throne. Daemon has been seen in every episode of the “Game of Thrones” spin-off so far, sometimes with a sarcastic comment on his lips, sometimes completely silent.

As the bad boy of Westeros, Daemon has many fans who regularly complain on Twitter that their favorite Targaryen doesn’t get enough dialogue. But even without big words, perhaps even because of them, Daemon became a particularly interesting character.
Of course, this is also due to Matt Smith, who gets the most out of his role and often says more with his facial expressions than words could. A mocking look from Daemon amuses, a serious look increases the tension. When Daemon supported his brother in Episode 8, helped him to the throne and picked up his fallen crown and placed it on Viserys’ head, nothing needed to be said, yet again we witnessed a memorable moment.
However, Daemon’s more silent side in recent episodes also shows that Daemon has changed. As the king’s brother and leader of the Kingsguard, Daemon could be bold, but as the husband of the almost-queen, he is more cautious but no less ruthless, as the murder of Vaemond Velaryon proves.
In season 2 of “House of the Dragon” Daemon will take on an important role again and will support Rhaenyra in the Dance of the Dragons. The new episodes of “House of the Dragon” await us in summer 2024.
