How and how often to clean your toaster? : Current Woman Le MAG

Good crispy toast in the morning, who doesn’t like that? To make them, you need an essential device: the toaster. It is very practical because in addition to not being expensive, it is not very large or big and therefore easily finds its place in small spaces. To toast your bread or defrost a bagel, it only takes a minute or two, it’s great. So to ensure it has a long lifespan, it is better to take care of it and maintain it as best as possible. Maintenance is not very complicated but it must be done regularly.

How to clean the inside of a toaster?

The inside of the appliance can quickly become dirty because bread crumbs can cling to the walls. It is therefore essential to remove it every week. The first thing to do when cleaning is to unplug the appliance and ensure that it is completely cold.

Then you can remove the crumb drawer which is located below the toaster. A large majority of devices are equipped with it. You can then turn your toaster over and tap it over a trash can or cloth to remove excess crumbs. If there is still some left, then we advise you to take a dry toothbrush and rub lightly on the walls inside.

Regarding the crumb drawer, you can clean it with soapy water and a sponge or microfiber cloth and dry it well before putting it back into the toaster.

How to clean the outside of a toaster?

Once the inside of the toaster is clean, you also need to think about taking care of the outside of the appliance. Here too, the device must be unplugged. The products used will depend on the material. If the exterior of your toaster is plastic, then you can use water with dishwashing liquid and a sponge. If it is made of stainless steel, then we advise you to use white vinegar to make it shine and not damage it. It is better to use a microfiber cloth rather than a sponge for this type of covering and remember to dry with a soft cloth afterwards. Finally, if the exterior of your toaster is metal, then you can use rubbing alcohol with a paper towel. Rub lightly if there are any stains and dry everything with a clean, dry micro-fiber cloth.
