How to obtain the new CNIe?

This way, you will be able to obtain the new electronic identity card without having to prove it was lost, stolen or expired.

Driving license also on the application
The new electronic identity card is not the only one that can be integrated into the France Identity application. Indeed, it will also be possible to add your driving license, whether it is the old or new format.
The France Identity application allows you to group all your identity documents on your smartphone, for simplified and secure administrative procedures. All that remains is to wait for the effective implementation of this new reason to obtain the new CNIe.
What is the electronic identity card used for?
The new electronic identity card has many advantages compared to the old version. First of all, it is equipped with an electronic chip which allows the holder’s identity data to be stored, as well as their photo and fingerprints. This chip makes the card much more difficult to forge, which increases the security of administrative procedures and identity checks.
In addition, the CNI is compatible with the France Identity application, which allows you to store a digital version of your identity card on your smartphone. This functionality is practical for online administrative procedures, but also for travel abroad, since certain countries now accept digital identity cards as travel documents.
