To vary the activities a little with your children, we suggest that you revisit classic painting thanks to swelling paint! Simple to make, more aesthetic, safe and original, "puffy" painting has a good chance of winning the hearts of your little ones! As an added bonus, this activity is perfect for stimulating the creativity of young and old alike.

The confinement pushes us to redouble our efforts to occupy our little monsters. Bursting with energy, children need to spend their time giving free rein to their imagination and creativity. Board games, cooking recipes, gardening, making origami or even customizing jewelry, there are many activities to keep your children occupied. Nevertheless, painting remains one of the favorite activities of the little ones. To bring pep's to their works of art, we suggest you create your own bulking paint !

What is bulking paint?

This activity will wake up the scientist in your child! Composed of flour, water, salt, baking powder and gouache, this painting technique will revolutionize the works of your little ones. So, once your artist has finished painting, all you have to do is put the support (preferably a sheet) in the microwave for about 15 seconds at 800 W, and voila! A sensory experience which will allow your child to observe the swelling caused by the chemical reaction on contact with heat, but also to have fun touching this flabby material with the tips of his fingers.

What do I need?

  • 3 tablespoons of flour
  • 3 tablespoons of fine salt
  • 5 tablespoons ofwater,
  • of dyes food or gouache
  • 1 teaspoon of yeast or 1 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate
  • a microwave

How to make swelling paint?

First, mix the flour and yeast, then add salt and water. Mix until you geta thick paste comparable to yogurt. Then separate your painting and dispatch it within the different color compartments. Finally, add colorants or gouache of the color you want. And there you are, your paint is ready, all you have to do is make it swell!
