WhatsApp recently rolled out an update to transfer your account, and almost all of your chat history, from an Android smartphone to an iPhone.
Apple and WhatsApp have worked hand in hand to roll out this feature within the Move to iOS app.

Here’s the process for transferring your account, plus some additional details you should know before switching from an Android device to an iPhone.
Prerequisites and Limitations
Before transferring your account, make sure you have everything you need to start the process. The operation requires:
- an Android phone running at least Android 5.0. ;
- the new iPhone with iOS 15.5 or higher;
- the new iPhone before its initial setup – it should display “Hello” in all languages when you turn it on;
- the Migrate to iOS application installed on the Android phone;
- the latest version of whatsapp installed on the android phone.
Finally, the two phones must share the same number (and therefore the same SIM card). This protection is in place to ensure that encrypted data can be accessed. You must therefore use the same identifier (your telephone number) on both devices.
How to transfer WhatsApp account from Android to iOS?
During the account transfer, the Move to iOS app also transfers the rest of the information you care about. That is, your conversations, your photos and your videos. It will even place a WhatsApp icon on your iPhone home screen. So you just have to click on it to install the application, without even having to open the App Store.
And, of course, the app also transfers your WhatsApp account information: your profile picture, group chats, chat history, and account-specific settings.
However, it will not transfer your call history or the name you have chosen to display on WhatsApp.
1. Install the latest version of WhatsApp and Migrate to iOS
First of all, make sure you have installed the latest version of WhatsApp and the Migrate to iOS application on your Android mobile.
2. Connect both devices to a charger and to the same Wi-Fi network

Connect your Android phone and your iPhone to the same Wi-Fi network, and plug them both into the mains. This will make it easier to transfer information between devices and ensure that neither device runs out of battery during the transfer process.
3. Start the transfer process

Open the Migrate to iOS app on your Android phone and follow the instructions until you come to a screen asking for a passcode. On your iPhone, go through the initial setup screens by selecting your language and country. When you get to the Quick Start screen, select Configure manually. Connect the iPhone to the same Wi-Fi network as your Android phone. Continue to follow the onscreen instructions, including setting up Face ID and creating a passcode when prompted.
When you get to the screen Apps and dataselect Migrate data from Android. Again, follow the on-screen instructions. You will get a single-use code. Enter this number on your Android phone, then validate the connection.
On the page Transfer data, you will be asked to select the information you want to transfer to your iPhone. WhatsApp should be listed as one of the options. Make sure you have selected it.
When you are ready to start the transfer process, press the button To start up. The transfer can take from a few minutes to an hour. It all depends on how much data you need to transfer.
Once the transfer is complete, your WhatsApp account and the rest of the information you selected will be on your iPhone. If you’re selling or trading in your old Android phone, make sure you’ve reset it, after checking that all your information and data is now on your iPhone.
