The ballerina returns. Yes yes, you read that right. This flagship shoe of the 2000s-2010s is back at the feet of fashionistas. If you were expecting his return, you must be delighted. Just like the Adidas Samba, we see ballerinas everywhere on Instagram. The return of this piece is proof that fashion is an eternal renewal. We had already seen other pieces return to the forefront of the fashion scene, such as clogs, low-rise jeans (super trendy in 2022-2023) or even transparent mesh tops. In 2022, the returning trends are those of the years 1990-2000.
Be careful, however, not all ballerina models are trendy. What ballet flats to choose in 2022 ? We really like the two-tone models inspired by the iconic Chanel pair. The soft dark brown leather ballet flats are also popular (after all, brown is one of the most popular shades this fall), but also the classic black model. We avoid models with a huge knot at the front of the shoe, ballet flats in leather or faux leather that are too rigid… We prefer a flexible material inspired by the traditional Repetto ballerinas. If the ballerina is “in” again, it is not worn in the same way as in the years 2000-2010. Exit slim or skinny jeans with ballerinas: we wear them in a very different way in 2022.
How to wear ballerinas in 2022 without being has-been?
With straight, wide jeans
Like Manon Laime, we like ballet flats if they are worn with nice straight or wide leg jeans. Exit the slims, we prefer the wider shapes that highlight the leg. These ultra-modern jeans go perfectly with a pair of ballet flats. In autumn, we complete the look with an oversized white shirt and a sweater. In winter, we put on a big sweater and a long oversized coat.
