HTC has finally presented its new smartphone, the Desire 22 Pro, a mid-range mobile compatible with the brand’s metaverse.
It’s been a while since HTC was considered a mobile giant. In recent years, the Taiwanese company has indeed focused on the field of virtual reality, with success. The firm, however, is visibly struggling to cut the cord with the smartphone industry. Evidenced by the presentation of the HTC Desire 22 Pro, a mid-range device compatible with the Viverse, metaverse developed by the brand. A catch-all term that designates the bridge between the virtual and real worlds.
On paper, the ambitions are great, but the technical sheet is nothing exceptional. The smartphone has a 6.6-inch LCD panel capable of offering image refresh up to 120 Hz. Inside, there is a Snapdragon 695 coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage via microSD. This is the same SoC that powers smartphones like the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G or the Honor Magic 4 Lite. The fingerprint sensor is located on the edge and the terminal has an IP67 waterproof certification.
In photos, HTC has opted for a triple sensor consisting of a 64-megapixel main module, whose lens opens at f / 1.8, an ultra wide-angle of 13 Mpx (f / 2) and a last for the depth calculation (5 Mpx). At the front, the user is entitled to a 32 Mpx (f / 2) sensor housed in a punch on the screen.

Autonomy is ensured by a 4520 mAh battery compatible with wired charging at 18 W, and wireless at 15 W. Reverse charging is also included. Everything runs on Android 12.
This mobile terminal will be available for pre-order from us from August 1, 2022 for €459, available in black or gold.
The brand particularly highlights compatibility with the Viverse. The latter will allow access to the content of the metaverse by working in conjunction with the Vive Flow, a very compact virtual reality headset that we have already mentioned. However, the latter is supposed to work with any Android phone. The firm is therefore not very clear on what more it brings.
It will also be possible to take advantage of the Viverse Wallet, a wallet offering easier management of cryptocurrencies and NFTs directly from the smartphone. A feature that reminds us of the HTC Exodus 1 and 1S, two devices that took advantage of the blockchain, but had not really managed to convince.
