huge disappointment for fans, Xbox lied to you

After the announcement with great fanfare full of promise of Cities Skylines 2 it’s time to have its small share of disappointments. The studio behind the game speaks out.

During the Summer Game Fest 2023 festivities and more specifically during the Xbox Showcase we were able to discover a certain Cities Skylines 2. Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order wanted to go all out in a 2-minute video in which we can admire magnificent cities emerging from the ground. Except that one promise was actually a mistake that has just been corrected. Explanation.

Cities Skylines 2 scales back its “promise”

To sum up the matter simply, a typo in one of the promotional items of Cities: Skylines 2 caused confusion on the part of the community. Indeed it suggested that the area of the game would be much larger than expected, much more than the first episode. The Colossal Order studio had to quickly intervene so as not to give false hope to the community. Because if the other promises of the game are very interesting, the size of the playing field is always a very sensitive subject for players of management games.

The Xbox article states that the full buildable map would be 175 km².

Unfortunately, the article appears to contain a typing error. The buildable area is actually 159 square kilometers.

16km² doesn’t seem like much on paper, but in the minds of the players it’s still a lot. God knows it is possible to build a lot of things on such a surface in Cities Skylines first of the name. Twitter user AgentAlways illustrates the problem. He explains that if the assumed maximum size of Skylines 2 is a little larger than that of the original title, it is still below the modified version of the basic game which is considered by many as what should be a minimum base not to be exceeded, see a standard…

Beautiful promises despite everything

Despite the confusing size of the map, the game still has great promise, such as the management of its population and the fact that each citizen of your city now has a life, with his family, his program, etc. A kind of sims but XXL version which gives much more immersion and reality to the cities you are going to build. For the moment the game is scheduled for October 24, on PC and Xbox Series (and Game Pass).

Does the size of the card really matter?ohur you? Tell us in the comments.
