huge success for this future series, it’s unanimous!

Disney+ has bet on the right horse with this very big series from February 2024. For the moment, this novelty is winning absolutely all the votes.

Disney+ releases will not go down in history. Why is that ? The number of new releases has decreased compared to January, although there are additions to watch out for. Season 4 of Atlanta, an HBO series which has received excellent reviews, arrived a few hours ago. Towards the end of the month, subscribers will have to let go of the Star Wars animated show The Bad Batch. The third and final season will consist of fifteen episodes in all, and the first three will be available on February 21. But there is perhaps even more interesting to look at…

A new Disney+ feature from February 2024 is unanimously acclaimed

Season 3 of Star Wars The Batch will be a Disney+ exclusive in the same way as Shogun. A new original FX series created for the video streaming service, and which will be available to subscribers starting February 27, 2024. What does it say? It is an adaptation of the novel by James Clavell, who co-wrote the screenplay for the cult film The Great Escape, developed by James Marks (Top Gun Maverick) and Rachel Kondo.

The story of this Disney+ series takes place in feudal Japan in 1600, at a time when a large-scale civil war, which will mark the century, is ready to break out. John Blackthorne (Cormo Jarvis), a sailor who ran aground with his crew in a neighboring village, obviously holds “secrets” that could change everything. In particular for Lord Yoshii Toranaga played by Hiroyuki Sanada. An actor who we see absolutely everywhere, on the big and small screen, and who has played in The Last Samurai, Westworld, John Wick 4, 47 Ronins, Bullet Train, Mortal Kombat etc. The list is as long as an arm. And he will be at the heart of this next Disney+ series alongside Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira.

The first reviews of the Shogun series are in, it’s excellent!

Shōgun, the future Disney+ hit? The first reviews are in and it’s a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with 14 reviews from the press. “Shogun should be watched above all for its ability to dazzle us with its political intrigues, its culture and the intensity that form a beautiful whole” (via Screen Rant). The Wrap is even more excited and is already proclaiming that it is “one of the most captivating and impressive series of the year”. For one of the editors of Time Magazine, “Shōgun stands out as a true masterpiece”.

“Shogun draws its strength from scenes where the most interesting characters come to the fore. The various manipulations, which interweave the personal and the historical, are anchored in a living world. There is a good amount of action and violence, but the story never focuses on that. It is rather a question of showing the way in which the characters navigate between the violent forces of destiny which will separate them at any moment” explains Collider.

The feedback on Shogun is all the same: extremely positive. To get off to a good start, Disney+ plans to broadcast the first two episodes on February 27. Afterwards, return to a weekly rhythm for the other eight. And there will be no season 2 since it is a mini-series.
