After the father, I ask for the son! From The Father to The Son, Florian Zeller continues to explore the family unit through a new adaptation of one of his successful plays, called The son in France.
The story goes like this: Nicolas is seventeen and seems to be struggling to live. He is no longer that luminous child who always smiled. What happened to him ? And why is he no longer in class? Overwhelmed by events, his mother no longer knows what to do, and Nicolas asks to live with his father. The latter will do everything to try to save him and give him back the taste for life. But can you really save someone other than yourself?

Young Zen McGrath plays the role of the son. He is surrounded by Laura Dern, Vanessa Kirby, and Anthony Hopkins among others. Recall that the previous collaboration of Anthony Hopkins for Florian Zeller had earned him the Oscar for best actor, for the film The Father. The film also picked up the statuette for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The Son will be released on March 8, 2023 in France, and by then, it could quickly position itself among the favorites in the race for the Oscars. The film is also in competition at the Venice Film Festival, which begins tonight.
