“I was very sneaky on it”: Madison De La Garza (Juanita Solis) went through hell on the set of Desperate Housewives

Playing the character of Eva Longoria’s daughter in the cult series Desperate Housewives, actress Madison De la Garza revealed during the Heart Of The Matter podcast that she went through hell during the filming of this fiction.

Launched for the first time on the antenna of the American channel ABC in 2004, Desperate Housewives quickly became a hit with audiences across the Atlantic. So it didn’t take very long for this fiction to be exported to France, where it was broadcast on the antennas of M6 and Canal+. As a reminder, the series depicts the hectic daily life of four women: Susan Mayer, Lynette Scavo, Bree Van de Kamp and Gabrielle Solis, respectively embodied by Teri HatcherFelicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria.

They live in Wisteria Lane, an upscale suburb of Fairview, located in the fictional Eagle State, stereotype of American upper-middle-class residential neighborhoods. Mary Alice Young, a friend of the heroines, commits suicide at the start of the pilot episode, and comments from beyond the grave on the multitude of intrigues mixing humour, drama and mystery in which the four women take part. During the series, the character played by Eva Longoria gives birth to two daughters. One of them is embodied on screen by the young actress Madison De La Garza. Now 21 years old, she revealed that she went through hell during the filming of Desperate Housewives during the podcast Heart Of The Matter.

Madison De La Garza: “I was called ugly, a fat cow”

In particular, she claims to have been the victim of harassment within the studios themselves. “They said they wanted to see me dead because of my appearance. They called me ugly, a fat cow. It was really horrible, it was messages like: ‘I hope you will get cancer and die because you are too fat’. Reading such comments definitely affected my mental health, and it ended up playing a role in developing an eating disorder at a very young age. My mother had no idea that I was seeing these things, reading these things, because I was very, very sneaky about it. I don’t blame him at all. It was literally impossible to stop seeing these things.” explained the one who has since left the world of cinema.
