IBM cuts marketing and communications positions

(Boursier.com) — IBM , the American technology giant, would cut marketing and communications positions according to CNBC. The group thus declared yesterday Tuesday to employees of its marketing and communications division that it was going to considerably reduce its workforce, according to a person with knowledge of the subject, cited by CNBC. Jonathan Adashek, IBM’s communications director, reportedly made the announcement during a roughly seven-minute meeting with staff members at the unit, said the source, who asked to remain anonymous because the news n has not been made public. In December, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna told CNBC that the company was “massively upskilling” its employees in AI, after announcing a plan in August to replace nearly 8,000 jobs with AI .

“In this year’s fourth quarter results, IBM disclosed workforce rebalancing fees that would represent a very low single-digit percentage of IBM’s global workforce, and we expect to end 2024 with approximately the same employment level than we entered it with,” IBM told CNBC.
