Identity card, passport: this site allows you to find an appointment at the town hall as soon as possible

The government wants to make life easier for French people who need to renew their identity card or passport. While the current situation forces them to wait up to three months, a new site aims to reduce this time as much as possible. To do this, the platform allows you to search for an appointment within a given radius in order to compare the available slots.

If you’ve had the misfortune to apply for a renewal of your identity card or passport in the past few weeks, you’re likely to find yourself in the middle of a long wait for an appointment. Last summer, delays have increased to 90 days in some town halls, pushing the government to invest several million euros to shorten the latter to 50 days in October.

An improvement certainly, but which is not yet sufficient. To shorten these delays a little more, the public authorities launched a new website at the end of November which, with a little luck, could well work miracles. The idea is simple: somewhat like Doctolib, the platform allows look for an appointment at a town hall within a radius of up to 60 km around his home.

How to quickly find an appointment to renew your passport and identity card

The platform is therefore very easy to use. All you have to do is go to rendezvouspasseport.ants.gouv.fr, select a window for an appointment as well as the search radius, then enter your postal code to start the search. As a reminder, it is possible to renew your identity card and passport in any town hall equipped with the necessary equipment.

Once a time slot has been found, all that remains is to book it and enter the necessary information. Note that at the time these lines are written, the platform seems to be encountering a problem preventing the search for appointments. It was therefore not possible for us to verify the effectiveness of the device. Either way, the solution might help 14 million French people who will apply in 2023according to government figures.
