There is apparently nothing that Idris Elba does not trust herself to be. He now even writes children's books for HarperCollins.

Idris Elba (48, "Luther") is apparently active on all fronts. The Londoner, who is being discussed as a possible James Bond successor to Daniel Craig (53, "Skyfall"), is already a film producer and musician in addition to his main work as an actor. As "The Hollywood Reporter" now reports, another job will be added soon – as a children's book author.

According to the industry portal, the "Thor" star has signed a contract for several publications with the publisher HarperCollins Children's Books (HCCB). Part of the deal are picture books and fictional stories that the 48-year-old developed together with his writing partner Robyn Charteris. And she is by no means a beginner in the field of children's products. Charteris has advised the toy companies Mattel and Lego, among others, and has a master's degree in dramaturgy.

"I feel privileged … to bring to life stories inspired by my daughter," said Idris Elba, father of 19-year-old Isan and six-year-old Winston. He simply described his writing partner as "unbelievable". At the same time, HCCB editor Ann-Janine Murtagh praised the screen star as "one of the most iconic and talented creatives of his generation". He immediately had "a very clear vision of the characters and stories" in mind and was passionate about designing books "that appeal to all children".

Barack Obama, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Felix Neureuther demonstrated it

With his plan, Idris Elba is following in the footsteps of other world stars who have already published children's books – including ex-US President Barack Obama (59, "Of Thee I Sing") and ex-national player Bastian Schweinsteiger (36). The latter, together with former ski racer Felix Neureuther (36), brought the books "Zwei Freunde im Fußballfieber" and "On the slopes, get set, go!" out.

The first children's book by film star Elba is due to hit the market in 2022.
