Foreign Minister of Ukraine confirms meeting with Lavrov

Diplomatic efforts between Ukraine and Russia: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba plans to meet his Russian colleague Sergey Lavrov on Thursday. He doesn’t demand any “absurd propaganda” from his counterpart – and makes Vladimir Putin an offer.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has confirmed his intention to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov soon. “The 10th (March) is currently planned. Let’s see if he flies to Antalya, then I’ll fly too. Let’s sit down, let’s talk,” he said in a video message on Monday evening. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu had previously said both sides were expected in Antalya on March 10. The talks should take place together with Cavusoglu in a three-way format.

Kuleba said that if Lavrov is ready for a serious talk, they will talk about diplomat and diplomat. “If he starts repeating the absurd propaganda that has been dished out lately, I’ll give him the hard truth he deserves.”

Request to Putin

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting is planned on the sidelines of the diplomatic forum in Antalya. The forum, which takes place regularly, brings together politicians, diplomats and experts from various fields for discussions. Turkey had repeatedly offered to mediate in the Ukraine conflict.

According to Kuleba, Ukraine is also open to direct talks between Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin. “Our president is not afraid of anything, not even a face-to-face meeting with Putin. Even if Putin is not afraid, may he come to the meeting, sit down and talk.”

Meanwhile, Putin told Ukraine, through Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, that he would stop the war against the country “immediately” if Kyiv met a number of conditions. Russia will end its “special operation” if Ukraine ceases its military actions, if it changes its constitution to enshrine neutrality, if it recognizes Crimea as Russian territory and the “People’s Republics” of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states.
