Infomaniak is a Swiss company that develops web hosting services (powered by renewable energy), but is also known to the general public for its suite of free and privacy-friendly online software that seeks to compete with the behemoths that are Google and Microsoft. Indeed, kSuite offers free email with 20 GB of storage, the kMeet video conferencing tool, kChat instant messaging, a calendar, a contact manager, a password manager, the SwissTransfer file transfer service and above all an office suite (word processing, table, presentation). Enough to calmly manage your personal documents or start a professional activity at a lower cost. Paid offers for collaborative work with several colleagues are also available. It is also thanks to the sale of paid solutions to companies that Infomaniak can offer these free services.
An open-source app…
To strengthen its offer, Infomaniak now offers ikMail, a mobile application for iOS and Android allowing access to its emails. Always for the sake of transparency vis-à-vis the users, the code of the application is open source. An effort that corresponds well to the ethics of the company which offers an email address without advertising or content analysis. The application allows you to manage several email accounts and the arrival of new messages will be notified automatically.
… in full development
However, the application is still young and some advanced features are missing. However, ikMail is in full development and Infomaniak ensures that synchronization with the calendar or the contact manager should soon be offered. The possibility of automatically unsubscribing from newsletters or improving signature management are also on the agenda for the coming months.
The application is already available for download for iOS and Android. The application requires a free Infomaniak email account.
