images of protests in China against the “zero Covid” policy

Images never seen before for the younger generation. Since Friday, November 25, protests have erupted in several cities in China against the government’s “zero Covid” policy. The deadly fire on Thursday in Urumqi, in northwestern China, of a building whose exits were closed because of measures against Covid-19, sparked the anger of thousands of demonstrators.
The demonstrations have given rise to political demands for more freedoms. In a video of a rally in Shanghai, we can hear “Down with Xi Jinping! »to demand the departure of the Chinese president, re-elected in October for a new term.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a press briefing that under “the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and [avec] the support of the Chinese people, our fight against Covid-19 will be a success.”
