Around 200 measuring points in pipes or wells throughout the province of Salzburg continuously show the groundwater level. The country’s experts are constantly monitoring the data.
Together with the experts from GeoSphere Austria, a longer-term water forecast has now been drawn up. Even if it continues to get warmer than average, the public water supply in the federal state is secured despite the current heat wave. Agriculture in particular suffers from longer periods of drought. But even for private individual water suppliers in the north, it could become scarce in individual cases. There they want to try to join forces in order to be able to better cushion bottlenecks in the network. Experts from the state and GeoSphere Austria have been working on improved longer-term drinking water forecasts for several years.
