Four suspects were arrested on Monday February 21 by the police officers of the Anti-Narcotics Office and the BRI of Creil while unloading 700 kg of cannabis resin in a warehouse. Investigators suspect them of having participated in the regular importation of large quantities of drugs from Spain, by bringing them across the border in heavy goods vehicles.
At the rate of two to four trips per month, it is a lucrative criminal organization that the specialized investigators of the anti-narcotics office (Ofast) believe to have neutralized.
A company in the sights of justice
Initially, it was simply a surveillance of several heavy goods vehicles that the police suspected of being used to supply the Loire department. Thus, the police went back to a company based in Spain and managed by several members of the same family.
A well-known service company since it was in the sights of justice for a case dating from 2019, concerning an import to Clermont-Ferrand of 1.4 tonnes of cannabis resin.
Over the course of the investigations, the investigators came to suspect this drug import network of supplying beyond the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Ile-de-France, Hauts-de-France, and to northern Italy.
700 kg of cannabis resin seized
The operation, aimed at catching traffickers in the act, began last Friday, when one of the Spanish company’s trucks crossed the border.
Barely entered French territory, investigators from the Ofast branch of the Lyon judicial police took him in the shadows, noticing at the same time that he was preceded by an “opener” vehicle.
After a night spent in an industrial area, four suspects were arrested this Monday, February 21 at dawn as they began unloading the precious cargo in a warehouse in the Oise.
The police seized no less than 700 kg of cannabis resin from the trailer and discovered that the warehouse was equipped with a jammer. The four individuals were placed in police custody as part of the judicial investigation opened by the Jirs (Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction) of Lyon.
