It is totally useless to go digging on Reddit or even trust the words of some streamers to know that an object will quickly make its arrival on New World. This will have a utility as important as the gypsum, because it will improve our pieces of equipment. But how ?
L’dark glow, as shown in the game, will allow raise the gear score of the desired piece of gear. As a result, your superb breastplate with 599 equipment scores will be able to get a little boost thanks to those famous dark shards. Shards will be very useful in raising our favorite weapon / piece of gear to 620 GS when the developers increase the max GS later on. These resources are totally unknown in-game and it is impossible to have it at the present time.
We asked the developers about this potential addition, already visible in the game, in order to find out a little more, but at the time of writing this article, they still have not answered us – and we strongly doubt that they will. We would tease the thing in advance. Shroud had already spoken about these mysterious items, but by hovering over your pieces of equipment, you can see that this famous rumor is true. We don’t know how we can get them, but ideas are emerging.
Few world events are currently available on New World, in particular World Bosses of level 65+ which could arrive on completely incongruous places. One thinks in particular of bosses, like Turkulon, of immense sizes which require a good number of players to defeat them. During the Dev Update in December, the developers had indeed indicated their interest in adding new in-game activities, therefore, it would be highly possible that the way to obtain these Dark Shards is through the extermination of these potential world bosses.
These “World Bosses” would be totally different from the bosses we know today and the reward could be huge for players who manage to tag the monster. Gold, no official information is available to date. Therefore, we will have to wait, but two things are certain: firstly, it will be possible to improve our weapons and teams and secondly, world events will make their appearances again.
Even though at the moment this is totally hazy information, questions have been put to the developers on our side, so if any answers are given to us, we will not run out of time to disclose them to you.
