In 2021, Activision-Blizzard generated 8.8 billion in net revenue, including 5.1 in microtransactions

With the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoftmany people thought that the financial situation of the Activision-Blizzard group was complicatedbut in reality, the Californian company remains all the same one of the most lucrative companies in the video game industry. Whether it’s Call of Duty, Overwatch or even Warcraft, the group’s many successful games always bring it many wins, the company having even made $5.1 billion in earnings in 2021 in micro-transactions alone.

Recently were released by Activision-Blizzard balance sheets concerning the company’s income for the year 2021. We learn that during this year, the net turnover of the group, which is moreover its record so far was $8.8 billionfor a net profit of more than 2.7 billion. However, one category of income occupies a much larger share of overall income than the rest, those of micro-transactions, subscriptions and DLC. Indeed, in this category, this year $5.1 billion earned by Activision Blizzardor 61% of its overall income.

Activision-Blizzard therefore still owns a major impact on the video game industry. This year was even the second most lucrative year in history for the Activision branch of the group, despite the failed launch of Call of Duty Vanguard. It is obvious that the group is still able to achieve colossal income thanks to its licenses which are now established in the video game landscape. This is undoubtedly one of the reasons who pushed Microsoft to buy the groupand this takeover is not likely to produce the opposite, quite the contrary.
