In Bruck an der Mur – Forgotten pan on stove started fire

A pan with oil was left on a switched-on electric stove and led to a kitchen fire in Bruck an der Mur on Sunday afternoon. Nobody was injured, and there was damage amounting to several thousand euros.

The 74-year-old apartment owner put a pan with oil on the electric stove and forgot it on the hot plate. The oil ignited around 2:30 p.m. and spread to the kitchen. The fire was noticed by the apartment owners and they put out the fire with handheld fire extinguishers. The already alerted Bruck / Picheldorf fire brigade was on duty with twelve men and three vehicles and carried out the clean-up work.

The fire brigade emphasizes: “This shows once again how important hand-held fire extinguishers, fire blankets, etc. can be in an emergency in order to prevent the fire from spreading.”
