In a gloomy automotive environment, low-emission vehicles continue to grow in Europe. On the chessboard of electric cars, the Tesla Model 3 still heads the list of registrations, closely followed by two models belonging to Renault.
At the dawn of the year 2022, the conclusion should be clear: the Tesla Model 3 does indeed seem to have dominated European sales of electric cars in 2021, although the figures for the month of December will not be known until next january. Nevertheless: for 11 months, the dynamic has been extremely favorable for the star of the catalog of the American manufacturer.
Last October, the compact sedan signed a double feat thanks to exceptional sales volumes, managing to beat diesel and gasoline vehicles in the monthly registration rankings. It was also a first for an American automobile to grab this honorary title on the European market.
The Model 3, again and again
November 2021 looks like a month like any other for Tesla. According to new figures released by JATO Dynamics, which is particularly interested in electric registrations from the Old Continent, the Model 3 continues to dominate the ranking with a total of 10,739 registrations.
The overseas manufacturer can also be proud of its latest electric SUV, the Model Y, which has continued its breakthrough since its debut in Europe at the end of August: a few months later, it climbed to 4th place in the ranking with 5,347 registrations. . It is also closely behind its direct competitor, the very affordable Dacia Spring.
Volkswagen in ambush
The crossover low cost launched by Renault has met with some success since its inception, as has the tireless city car Zoé, second with 8,658 registrations. We should also mention the good form of Volkswagen, with its ID.4 and ID.3, respectively 6th and 7th in the standings. The Peugeot e-208, so popular in France, is less popular in Europe (9th).

As JATO Dynamics reminds us, electric cars are experiencing strong growth, in a difficult economic climate. In Europe, the automotive market for all engines combined was down 18% in November compared to last year, and 29% compared to 2019.
The organization recalls that the shortage of components, in particular that of semiconductors, continues to have a negative impact on the sector. He believes that the lack of supply would also play a role, when electric cars, on the other hand, benefit from great incentives and an increasingly extensive global catalog.
Let us now try to be patient to know the figures for the month of December and to establish an annual balance sheet.
