in Saint-Etienne, a man kills his wife with a knife

No truce for the murders of women. Sunday, December 27, 2020, a 33-year-old man killed his wife with a knife in the center of Saint-Étienne, before calling for help.

As 2020 draws to a close, a new name has been added to the long list of known feminicides this year (93 of them have been killed by their spouses or ex-spouses to date). Although her surname has not been released by the press, we know that she is a 32-year-old woman who lived in Saint-Étienne and was the mother of a little boy.

According to France Bleue, this woman was killed Sunday, December 27, around 2:30 p.m., in the center of the city. Firefighters were alerted by a phone call from the perpetrator himself: a 33-year-old man, claiming to have stabbed his partner. On the spot, the emergency services were only able to note her death and call the police. According to André Merle, the deputy public prosecutor of Saint-Etienne, taken over by France Bleue, "The man then allegedly tried to end his life by slashing his neck". He was able to receive treatment before being taken into custody.
