Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) has rejected the Schengen opening for the internal EU borders of Romania and Bulgaria, which has caused some uproar. Upper Austria’s Integration Provincial Councilor Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer (also ÖVP) supports this step – which is justified by the largely unregulated influx of refugees – he had the “Krone” confirm on Friday morning.
