Festival-goers present this weekend at the Séries Mania festival, which takes place this week in Lille, were able to discover the next series which will be an event on France 2. Entitled In the darkit is a French political thriller carried by Swann Arlaud, Melvil Poupaud and Karin Viard, including The Digitals was able to see the first two episodes.

Adaptation of the eponymous novel by Édouard Philippe and Gilles Boyer (published in 2011), In the dark is a political series written by Pierre Schoeller (State Exercise) and Lamara LePrêtre-Habib, with the participation of Philippe and Boyer. It plunges us into the heart of a political election and into the race for the presidency of the French Republic.
We follow Paul Francoeur (Melvil Poupaud), who has just won his party’s primaries and is beginning a presidential campaign that is, to say the least, eventful.
At his side, César Casalonga (Swann Arlaud), his main advisor, not only faces attacks from other candidates but must also confront a rumor of fraud in the primaries which could well change everything.

What is this new French political series worth?
If you like series in the spirit of Black Baron And House of Cardswhich immerse the viewer behind the scenes of politics, you will certainly be won over by In the dark.
The series, which will soon be broadcast on France 2 and on the France.tv streaming platform, manages to quickly captivate its audience by carefully and intelligently deciphering the modern conquest of power. We discover the workings of politics through a story with a fast pace and breathtaking staging, which is anchored in the current state of our society.

Swann Arlaud, recently awarded the César for his role in Anatomy of a fallis excellent in the role of an apparatchik who must do everything to ensure that his candidate manages to win the race for the Élysée.
Facing him, the rest of the casting is also impeccable, from Melvil Poupaud (Laurence Anyways) to Karin Viard (Polish) via Evelyne Brochu, Sofian Khammes, Baptiste Carion-Weiss and even Maud Wyler.
In short, the first two episodes (out of six in total) presented at the Séries Mania festival are mouth-watering and announce a mainstream political series which is likely to be talked about when it is released. And not only because it was born, among others, from the pen of a former Prime Minister.
