In version 97, Microsoft Edge corrects 4 important vulnerabilities

With the release Edge 97
, Microsoft is delivering a new, more secure update for its users, fixing no less than four severe vulnerabilities.

The IT multinational has released an update to Microsoft Edge 97 on the stable channel, including security improvements and new features.

A new security-focused update

Microsoft has put the package on the security side in its Edge 97 release by eliminating five memory corruption vulnerabilities from the Chromium-based web browser. Among them, four are qualified as important and one is classified as moderate vulnerabilities via the Control Flow Gard. Note that this is only available on Windows 8 and later versions.

New to Edge 97, the Microsoft Endpoint DLP Data Loss Protection application (Data Loss Prevention) will be available on the macOS operating system. Then, users will be able to use their current profiles to access websites when they have school and work accounts signed in on the same device. In addition, an automatic HTTPS feature is deployed, allowing switching from HTTP to HTTPS at the level of domains with more secure protocols. Finally, legacy WebSQL functionality will be blocked from third-party frameworks. However, it will remain available as an option until the release of Microsoft Edge 101.

Users can already take advantage of this update. Just enter “edge://settings/help” in the address bar of the browser, in order to be able to display the current installed version. Then, you have to run a manual search for the latest version of Edge 97. Note that for the moment, this update has not yet been deployed on all explorers, but it will be soon.
