This e-scooter can be folded up tiny. Then you can pack it in your backpack like a notebook or carry it with you to the office. Nevertheless, it is around 20 km/h fast.
The e-scooter called Arma looks like a staple gun when folded – and it’s not much bigger! The Japanese company Shimizu, which is behind the mini scooter, promises that it should be about the size of a DIN A4 sheet of paper or a normal notebook.
The e-scooter is still in the advanced development phase. But the desired technical key data is already making us sit up and take notice. The makers promise a ready-to-drive weight of around 4.5 kilograms. Strong, considering how much current e-scooter models weigh.
It is not without pride that Shimizu claims to have developed the smallest and lightest e-scooter in the world. A high level of driving comfort is not to be expected given the small tires. This is also suggested by the videos that show the scooter in action.
The folding process should be completed within half a minute. This is more than is expected for the folding process of a typical folding e-bike, but still within practical limits. The Japanese startup states that the range of one battery charge is 15 kilometers. Practical: Removable batteries should be used that you can charge via a USB-C port.
Price and availability
Prototypes of the e-scooter have already been shown at trade fairs and exhibitions this year, but this foldable e-scooter is not yet commercially available. A crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter has already been partially successfully completed and the finished product could come onto the market towards the end of the year.
Anyone who decides to buy now as part of crowdfunding will pay the equivalent of 1,020 euros. After the campaign ends, the price increases by 30 percent. Remember that crowdfunding is generally not without risk for you.
