  • “Indiana Jones 5” will be released in cinemas in the summer of 2023, with Harrison Ford again starring.
  • Ford’s departure from the adventure series is accompanied by some old acquaintances.
  • Sallah is also doing the honors, embodied by “The Lord of the Rings” star John Rhys-Davies.

Harrison Ford returns – of course – in “Indiana Jones 5” and Karen Allen is also set to reappear as Marion Ravenwood. Now another well-known name joins the illustrious cast: John Rhys-Davies will be seen again as Sallah in the upcoming film sequel.

Sallah appeared in the first and third “Indiana Jones” films, even then he was played by Rhys-Davies. Of course, fantasy fans know the British actor best as Gimli from Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Rhys-Davies’ return in Indiana Jones 5 was confirmed by the film’s first trailer, presented at Disney Convention D23. Unfortunately, the trailer hasn’t appeared online yet, but those present caught a glimpse of Sallah between various action scenes.

Incidentally, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”) is new as Indy’s goddaughter Helena. So far, Helena’s parents remain a secret, but fans believe her to be the daughter of Marcus Brody, the scholar and curator played by Denholm Elliott. “Indiana Jones 5” will start in German cinemas on June 29, 2023.
