The industrial style is back – in a modern interpretation that gives our home a real loft character. How do you let the living trend move into your home? Here is an overview of the most important ingredients.

The industrial style is so timeless that it can hardly be called a trend. After all, it returns in such regular waves that it is impossible to imagine life without it. Currently, in the industrial look, but even more present than ever before: old factories are being converted into offices, steel girders are no longer hidden, but staged.

The industrial look is particularly impressive in large rooms. Clear contours meet solid materials and create a factory flair that every: n visitor: can enter and be amazed: Hui, has something!

But not everyone has an old factory standing around in the garden and enough space to equip themselves with the classic industrial elements without crushing their entire home. Admittedly, black, a classic of the look, always looks stylish in the interior – but also quickly becomes gloomy. This is why this variant of the 2021 living trend comes in handy for us: The Modern Industrial Style combines classic, industrial designs with a bit of lightness and nature – and thus ensures an unmistakable loft character. And hand on heart: we all wanted to live in a loft apartment at some point.

5 ingredients for the modern industrial style

Metal, chains, hooks

Let’s stay with the basics: cool metal chains are not only stable, but also a stylish way of attaching hanging lamps to the ceiling. Even with table and chair legs, metal materials bring clear structures into the room. Nothing here is ornate or playful, but clean and tidy.

Construction lamps

Construction lamps have developed from practical helpers to absolute eye-catchers. Whether as a hanging lamp or a large corner lamp, the Bauhaus style is an ideal match for industrial design. Important here: In order to still bring warmth and cosiness into the room, warm white lights should be used. Vintage lightbulbs also create a great atmosphere.

Bright materials

The cool metal can meet warm white in a modern industrial style. Unlike in the classic style, black does not play a major role here – instead, we rely on warmer, lighter tones. Table legs and lamps can be painted over, the exposed wall can also be painted white. If you like it less clean and a little more colorful, you can also opt for light pastel and natural tones. Here, however, you should always stick to the light color scheme.

Exposed walls

We already mentioned it: Exposed walls are still a real eye-catcher in industrial style. It is worth tearing off the wallpaper and letting the surface appear completely natural. The same applies to the floor covering – concrete can definitely be used as a style element in combination with selected carpets. Wooden beams and steel girders are not hidden in the industrial design, but skilfully staged with spotlights.

Upcycling

Tubes as candlesticks or jewelry stands? Old taps as vases? But yes! Copper-colored pipes in particular can set elegant accents in industrial style. Upcycling is not only suitable for decoration, it is even desired. Old concrete elements can be turned into flower pots, chains can be turned into picture holders and old metal rods can be wonderfully converted into clothes racks. With a new coat of paint, color can be brought into the four walls as desired. Speaking of which: green plants give the modern industrial style the finishing touch and can take up space.
