Inflation: Energy employers propose 1% increase in national basic wage

This proposal was freshly welcomed by the unions, which will decide on Friday on a possible agreement.

Energy employers on Monday proposed a 1% increase in the national basic wage for electricity and gas workers, a proposal freshly welcomed by unions who are demanding better inflation control and must decide by Friday whether or not to ratify an agreement.

This proposal, supplemented in the event of signature by a minimum tax-free premium of 400 euros, “was freshly welcomed by the trade unions who say that compared to the wall of inflation that we are encountering, it remains very low“, indicated to AFP Stéphane Chérigié, of the CFE-Energie. An agreement will be submitted to the unions, “employers seeking a signature for Friday the 8thJuly, according to Stéphane Chérigié. The proposal is notnot up to the needs“, according to Fabrice Coudour, federal secretary of the FNME-CGT, according to whom the branch unions have formulated a “proposal to end trading around 2% on July 1“.

The CGT has decided to consult its various unions until Thursday 10:00 am, to decide on this agreement. “These proposals can benefit a certain number of employees, who are already in a social emergency, but clearly, on the overall volume, it is really not up to the task“, Estimated Fabrice Coudour. The unions are demanding compensation for the loss of purchasing power induced by inflation, arguing that the accumulation for ten years amounts to a 15% loss.

The agreement also provides for a renegotiation in September of the basic national salary for 2023, according to the CGT. Within Engie, blockages continued on Monday in underground gas storage centers and LNG terminals, according to Frédéric Ben, CGT Engie union representative. He indicated that the representatives of the storage were convened on Tuesday by the management of Storengy, which could formulate additional proposals. Asked by AFP, the group’s management did not confirm this meeting.
