Chinese President Xi Jinping will be on a state visit to France on May 5, 6 and 7. This trip aims to celebrate 60 years of Franco-Chinese diplomatic relations. For the occasion, an exceptional program awaits the Chinese president in Paris, before going to the Pyrenees.
Red carpet for Xi Jinping. To mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China, Emmanuel Macron has planned an XXL visit to the capital for his counterpart. On a state visit with his wife, the President of the People’s Republic of China will arrive this Sunday at 4:10 p.m. at Paris-Orly airport, where he will be welcomed by the Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal. After a short official ceremony at the Pavilion of Honor, Xi Jinping and his wife will return to their Parisian residence, the very chic Peninsula hotel in the 16th Arrondissement, not far from the Arc de Triomphe.
The next morning at 11 a.m., a quadrilateral meeting will be held at the Élysée with the presence of Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, the German Federal Chancellor, Olaf Scholz and the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron. In the afternoon at 3 p.m., the Hôtel des Invalides will be the scene of a ceremony of honor, to celebrate 60 years of Franco-Chinese diplomatic relations.
A meeting of French and Chinese entrepreneurs
Before a two-hour restricted meeting between the two heads of state at the Élysée Palace, which will conclude with the signing of trade agreements and a press conference. At the same time, the two first ladies will go to the Musée d’Orsay for a private visit, followed by a meeting with students. The two women could also go to UNESCO headquarters.
After this interview, Emmanuel Macron and Xi Jinping will walk to the Marigny theater, where a meeting of French and Chinese entrepreneurs will be held at 6 p.m. In the evening, Emmanuel Macron and his wife will receive their Chinese counterparts for a state dinner at the Élysée which will conclude the day. Tuesday morning, the two heads of state will embark at 10 a.m. from Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, towards the Pyrenees, for a visit to the Col du Tourmalet.
