An inmate escaped from Miles Prison last Saturday morning. The missing person was immediately put out by the canton police for a search, as the Directorate of Justice and Interior of the Canton of Zurich writes in a statement.
The man was in prison for theft, it said. The exact circumstances of the escape are the subject of investigations.
Miles Prison is affiliated with the Bachtel Correctional Center. It is normally available for the execution of alternative prison sentences of less than 30 days and for inmates who are not suitable for open detention at the Bachtel Correctional Center. Because of Corona, the prison is currently being operated as a station for entry quarantine into the penal system. (noo)
