The “non-K” Core i5-13400 could make a name for itself in the midrange as a more affordable alternative to theAMD Ryzen 5 7600X. With an expected price of around 200 dollars, the chip looks very promising indeed… at least if we are to believe the first leaks concerning it.
It was on CPU-Z that Intel’s Raptor Lake processor showed itself. This new desktop CPU should sport 10 cores clocked between 2.5 and 4.6 GHz and feature 20 MB of L3 cache. There should also be an Intel UHD 770 graphics part, for a thermal envelope displayed at 65 W.
Twenty new Intel chips to come
WCCFTech explains that this Core i5-13400 is one of the twenty or so new Intel processors inadvertently unveiled at Microsoft and Gigabyte (see table below) last month. Among these chips, references attached both to the Alder Lake families (12e generation) than Raptor Lake (13e generation), and which come to fill the holes in the line-up current from Intel.
While waiting for the manufacturer to give us the full details of the 16 Tiger Lake processors that still have to be presented, these first leaks allow us to have a slightly more precise vision of the new range of processors. desktop of the Californian giant.
Encouraging benchmark results
But back to the Core i5-13400. In benchmark on CPU-Z, the new mid-range CPU from Intel obtains an index of 729.3 points in calculation single corecompared to 6,591.5 points in the tests multi core. This score not only allows it to approach the performance of the Core i5-12600K on the same tool, but also to exceed the Ryzen 5 7600X in calculation multi corewhile practically equaling it in single core.
If this is confirmed, it would be a snub for AMD: the Ryzen 5 7600X is indeed sold for around 300 dollars (against an expected price of 200 dollars for the Core i5-13400) and goes up to 105 W (against 65 W for Intel CPU). As a reminder, these new “non-K” Raptor Lake processors should arrive on the market at the start of 2023, after an anticipated announcement during the next CES.
