This dietetics BTS student leaves with a slight advantage over her adventure comrades: the tent of Best pastry chefshe already knows her. A few months ago, she indeed won the second season ofOn the way to The Best Pastry Chef, which allowed him to join this eleventh season of the competition presented by Marie Portolano. Meeting with a young woman passionate and determined to win this edition.
Télé Star: In what state of mind were you when you landed in the tent of the Best pastry chef ?
Manon: I’ve been waiting for this moment since my victory at On the way to The Best Pastry Chef so I was more excited than stressed.
Win On the way to The Best Pastry Chef was it an asset?
I don’t know if I can say that’s an asset. On the other hand, I was perhaps less apprehensive, given that I had already been in front of cameras, that I had already baked while explaining what I was doing and that I had already met Mercotte. Afterwards, the issue is not the same.
Your trademark is to offer healthy pastries. Which is far from exciting Cyril Lignac …
No it’s true. I don’t think he’s used to tasting that kind of pastry. I started the show with the aim of changing Cyril’s mind.
Did you get there?
To find out, you will have to watch the rest of the season.
Why Manon wanted to participate in the Best Pastry Chef
During the first trial, you missed your bowl-shaped dough. What’s going on in your head at that moment?
I try to handle the pressure and not let the stress overwhelm me too much. Which I think I managed pretty well. As an amateur, it’s difficult to judge his level. It is to situate myself that I participated in the Best pastry chef so I figured it wouldn’t work all the time.
Despite the positive comments at the tasting, you did not get your ticket after this test. How did you approach the creative test?
I told myself that I had to give it my all. That it’s not because I had missed something that it was going to miss a second time. I had to keep in mind my objective, which was to go as far as possible. I conditioned myself to be as motivated as possible and to try to surpass myself.
Is it this failure that prompted you to offer a more “classic” cake this time?
I like healthy food and that’s the little extra I wanted to add, but I also cook traditional pastries. It was a choice on my part not to show only healthy pastries.
Manon: “My father absolutely wanted me to try the Best Pastry Chef experience”
How was your passion for pastry born?
Since I was little, I love everything that is manual. I liked to touch a little bit of everything. With my grandmother, my sister and my cousin, we loved to make cakes, and in particular marbled ones. I’ve always liked that. But the confinement was a trigger for me. It was then that I became really interested in pastry and that I really discovered this passion.
Then you participated in On the way to The Best Pastry Chef. Did you apply?
Yes, I applied. My father absolutely wanted me to try the experience of Best pastry chef. While waiting for the cast of the next season, I saw on social networks that ofOn the way…so I instantly applied.
As a fan of Best pastry chefhow did you find behind the scenes of the program?
Everyone appreciates Cyril and Mercotte, so I was wondering if that would also be the case in reality. And it was. It’s really a great meeting. I am very lucky. They are as is. Super nice. Super benevolent. It was a great surprise.
