Credit Suisse has launched an investigation against its chairman António Horta-Osório because he apparently evaded corona rules during a trip last July. In November, the Portuguese violated the current quarantine regulations when he flew back to Zurich from London on a private jet – at a time when Switzerland had already put Great Britain on a list of countries from which travelers have to be in quarantine for ten days.

But the request was rejected both at the cantonal and federal level. Nevertheless, Horta-Osório got on a plane three days later and flew to the Iberian Peninsula, then flew on to New York.

Days later, Horta-Osório reported himself for a possible violation according to the Epidemic Act Article 83 and commented on the incident: “It is important to me to comply with the Swiss quarantine regulations, and I have this from my arrival in Switzerland on November 28, 2021 to also done carefully on departure. The CS also commented at the time: “Credit Suisse regrets that the quarantine regulations have been violated in connection with the travel activities of its president. Compliance with applicable laws and guidelines is a top priority for Credit Suisse and for the President himself, ”said the bank.
