“We are investigating the death of a prisoner in the Klagenfurt prison,” confirms Markus Kitz from the public prosecutor’s office. The 33-year-old Turk, who was serving a prison sentence, was found dead in his bed in the early hours of the morning on Sunday – his two fellow inmates apparently did not notice that the man had vomited in his sleep and had suffocated. He is said to have died suddenly hours earlier snored peacefully. The young man’s sudden death is a mystery. “There is no evidence of foul play,” said Kitz. But there are those that do not rule out drugs as a cause of death. The man was in the substitution program, so he also received his drug substitute while in prison. Autopsy should bring clarity “In order to clarify this, a comprehensive autopsy was ordered, in which stomach contents and blood values ​​were also examined,” said Kitz. But the results are still pending.
